A night with NKOTB

In the words of Oswald: "Oh my gosh!" What a night! What a birthday present/get-away! WoW!! Yes, I went old school - if you know me, you've known since May that I would. There really are no words to describe the concert these guys give. The energy, the love for the fans, the appreciation that they show, it truly makes you believe that having you there in that arena is important to them. That without YOU being in that crowd, the concert just wouldn't have been the same. Ok so maybe that last part is a stretch, seeing as it was a sold-out concert and I'm sure another abled body would have glady occupied my seat and NKOTB wouldn't have known the difference.....

The pics I have arent that great. I didn't take my camera because, well, it was printed on the ticket not to - long story short - I realize that every arena isnt as picky as the Bilo Center and I'll take it everytime from now on....

No, our seats werent THAT close - they came out to a little "turn-style" table in the middle and it happened to be RIGHT in front of us! So awesome! These two particular pictures were taken during their song Dirty Dancing (one of the new ones). They sang A LOT of their old songs and it was great to see that I was not the only one left in this world who could sing right along with them word for word :o) There is one thing I feel the need to mention and ladies please dont take this the wrong way, but: I have never seen sooooooooo many middle-aged women in one place in my life!!!!! And on top of that, there was not a single cat fight or scratch during the entire event! There were about maybe 10 men there and I think its a testament to our gender. Try having a night like that with that many men and beer and 5 hot ladies in one place! LOL !
It reallly was a great get-away! and I got to do it with my Bestfriend who, by the way, is not a NKOTB fan! At least not like I am ;o) But she loved me enough to make my 30th birthday special and I gotta tell ya it was, especially since our hotel room had a 4ft deep tub in it!!!! LOL I'll blog about our "upgrade luck" later.... Also a BIG thank you to my boyfriend! While my bestfriend bit the bullet and went with me - he did buy my ticket and give me money for the trip. He really is the greatest guy and after being there, I really can't blame him for not accompanying me - besides it was definitely "Ladies night out!!!"

To top it off we stopped in Commerce on the way home yesterday and at Longhorns for a birthday lunch. Don't really remember what I had for lunch but this was our desert..... Not really sure what they called it on the menu, but I like to refer to it as a"Heavenly Sinful Delight." Once again -in the words of my favorite blue octopus: "Oh My Gosh!"

A weekend with us...

This weekend was absolutely great! It wasnt filled with the normal rushes, errands and shopping that normally gets jammed into my saturdays and sundays. This weekend, Sarah and I opted to let "Meme" do all the running around and grocery shopping and we spent saturday in our Pj's roaming the house and yard. My little girl is a hoot and she's growing absolutely too fast!

She has discovered and adopted her mothers' fondness for turtles and her mothers' turtle bedroom slippers....

The toy baskets in Mama's room are the perfect Sarah size:

On Sunday, we went to spend the day with Tommy or "ommy" depending on which one of us you ask ;o) Thank goodness this was already planned. When Sarah woke she wanted to watch "mamoo" (that would be mickey mouse) in my bed. Of course a 16mnth old doesnt really watch anything in its entirety but she has a good time being tickled by me, playing with my camera, palm pilot and anything else she can drag off my nightstand. This morning it was my phone. And she wanted me to call Tommy all morning long. How do I know this for certain? Well when someone puts a phone up to your ear and says "call 'ommy" what does it mean to you? LOL!

Spending the day with him is always so much fun, for the both of us. She absolutely loves her "ommy" and proved it to us this weekend. I wasn't allowed to touch, hug and for a time or two, speak to him. She would shove me away and lay her little head on his chest and sigh "ommy"

Can you say: W R A P P E D? LOL the only other person that seems to have this effect on him is his own daughter! All I can do is shake my head and smile from ear to ear. How blessed am I to have this wonderful little girl in my life and a man that Loves us both.....

I changed my mind

Yes, I changed the name of my blog. Its my blog, I feel that I'm allowed. Isn't that why we all blog, so that there exists one space in this world that is ours and ours alone and we can do with it what we will? Ok, Ok I had some issues with the other page and long story short had to re-set up everything, so while I'm changing everything I figure why not change that too. Yeah, so anyway, after looking around and reading other blogs I decided I would let Sarah help me be unique like everyone else and have a nifty title (wait - did I just say nifty?....)

So why "PappyGo" then? Well its a cute little story. Sarah calls her pacifier a "pappy" and when she would lay it down or "misplace" it only to want it 2 minutes later, we picked up the routine of "where did that pappy go?" When she was about 10mnths old, she picked up the two most important words of that sentence: "pappy go?" This, to us, was of course cute to watch her walk around with arms out asking "pappygo pappygo?" So there you have it. Now of course when ever she's looking for something, she names it followed with "go" ie: "nunny go?" (our cat sunny) and with the famous "gotta go" which is our cue she's ready to go.
My little girl, what would I do without her.....

THEY'RE BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!!

OK so many of you are asking "who's back and where are they back from?"( <---courtsey of my boyfriends' daughter) While others are wondering "why are you telling us old news and when will they return back to where they've been hiding?"(my mom) AND then still there are those who are like me who have an inner 13 year old screaming, jumping up and down on her desk and telling any and everyone who will listen that she is going to see them in 6 days!!!!!

That's right in 6 days at 8pm i will be settling down in my seat (or at least trying to make some effort at containing my inner 13yr old self) in atlanta getting ready for what i know will be the best concert EVER!!! Yes I have tickets to see The New Kids on the Block, or in fan terminology NKOTB, and i'm proud to admit that i have them. I was a huge fan back in the day and had an opportunity to see them but alas i was too sick to go ;o(

SOOOO fast foward 15 years and I get to fulfill a childhood dream, and so thankful to have the opportunity to do so. Oh go ahead and laugh - i even laugh at myself at this one. But you have to admit those "kids" aged really well. And while there are those who think i am incredibly silly and "should probably keep this concert and excitement to myself" ( my boss) I will be celebrating my 30th birthday with the kids from "The Block," my bestfriend of 11yrs (who I guilted into going because she loves me) and with the enthusiasm of a 13yr old.
Go ahead BE JEALOUS ;o)

Just a Quickie:

I just went to one of my favorite restaurants in the good ole' town of Simpsonville. Its a little Italian/Pizza place that specializes in authentic italian pastas, pizzas and subs - New York style (dont ask just eat and enjoy....) But they also specialize in Cannolis. In what? CANNOLIS people. Rich, creamy, heavenly sinnful (insert sigh here) cannolis:

One day i will know the recipe - and all my friends will be envious of my ability to have these yummmy, soooo good, sinful devilish delights any time i want. But for now i will just sit here at my desk and for an oh so brief moment, be in heaven........

A Love for Her Poppie and his Socks

It is a love like no other: the love for her poppie and apparently it transcends to his socks... This is what i come home to just about everyday. Apparently when poppie gets home he has a routine like most of us do: take off the work clothes and put something comfortable and casual on. But unlike most of us he and Sarah seem to have their own unique routine. He puts on socks, she takes them off and makes him put them on her. Why? I guess only Sarah and Poppie will ever fully understand ;o)

I guess it is a little strange. But you should see her, she's so adorable and thinks its just the next best thing to "roanie" (that would be her mac and cheese). When i get home she has to run over to show them to me and then she wants me to chase her around the house. I think this is because she has discovered "sliding in socks on hardwood floors." And yes while it may be an odd routine, I hope its something that continues for a little while at least. I remember having fun and silly welcome home routines with my grandfather, and now those are some of the best and most cherished memories.

The Punkin VS the Pumpkin

Ok so Sarah's 16mnths old, smart as can be and way too curious like her Mama. However there is one trait that she has inherited that is clearly not from me: she is a complete and utterly girly girl princess. I discovered this about my little girl this weekend. I thought we could have a good time and start a pumpkin carving tradition. Something that we always did when I was growing up. So, we go buy this huge pumpkin at sam's - she looooved picking it out. We get the stencil set at walmart, dust off Poppie's drimmel tool and head to the back porch to start our gutting adventure.

Yeah that didn't last long..... My little "punkin" would have nothing and I do mean NOTHING to do with the gunk that is inside a pumpkin (see face in above pictures). From the moment I reached my hand in it to show her, she started shaking her head and making it very clear that she meant not to touch this stuff.

Oh the payback for never wanting to wear the pretty dresses my mother bought me....... I have a prissy girly girl...

Poppie decided it would be a good time to go out for an adventure walk in the yard and I was stuck with this pumpkin carving all by myself. Some tradition huh ;o) In the end (with some power tool help from poppie) we did finish it up and I think it looks pretty darn good for Sarah's first annual pumpkin carving:

But then again I am the biased mom... :o) She did help me put vaseline on all the cut areas and thought it was fun putting the top on (and off and on and off and on....) So maybe we'll keep trying the tradition for a little while after all.

"But Mommmmm, everyone else does it..."

LOL does that bring back memories? Ok so this is my first blog, and I decided to do this because of the exact statement above.... yes everyone does appear to be doing it, and I have to tell you it looks like fun. So for now I'm going to play around and see what this is all about and what I can and can't do (any helpful tips and hints will be accepted!) Here we go.....

BTW - I chose the title of my blog ("The Biased Mom") because that's what my friends lovingly call me. Yes I said lovingly - I checked to make sure..... paranoia can sometimes run rampant in my crazy head - so please don't worry, I think my child is the best just because she is that: mine, but I also realize that I'm no different than every other mom out there who thinks the same thing ;o)
